Mollie is a Postdoctoral Research Associate working in collaboration with Unilever on the synthesis and testing of biodegradable polymers as rheology modifiers for liquid formulations. After completing her MChem in Chemistry from Manchester Metropolitan University with a project developing perovskite solar cells, she found that material science was much more enticing than plain old chemistry. This led to a PhD in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Manchester. Her doctoral research, sponsored by Synthomer, with Professor Brian Saunders focused on the synthesis of colloidal latex dispersions to produce soft polymer films for the application of reprocessable rubber gloves. When she’s not synthesising polymers, she can be found hiking and climbing her way through the countryside.
