On 28 March, the SMI Hub invited a cohort of organisations to the Henry Royce Institute Hub Building for an afternoon workshop on sustainability.
Organisations in attendance included the National Trust, Studio Olafur Eliasson, National Portrait Gallery, Framing Manchester and Manchester Art Gallery, with the workshop focussing on plastics sustainability in general, and more specifically art packaging materials.
Dr Parnian Doodstar, Dr Jair Esquivel and Michaela Kiernan presented, with presentations on how components are made, used and disposed of, and where improvements can be made. Participants gained an insight into where they could reduce costs, waste, resources, and environmental impact.
