Isabelle Picard

Izzy graduated with an MSci in Materials Science from the University of Cambridge in the summer of 2020, marking the most important and pivotal event to happen that year. After 5 years of various materials engineering roles in industry, Izzy fled her comfortable, lavish lifestyle in the summer of 2025 to pursue a PhD under the joint supervision of Prof. Matthew Gibson and Prof. Mike Shaver. Her work looking at the resterilisation of single-use plastic devices in the medical and dental sectors is hoping to offset the multitude of carbon emissions she has generated through her travelling pursuits. In her spare time, when not making dad jokes and annoying the rest of the BUPA team, Izzy enjoys sinking many hours into video games, running, playing the saxophone, and painting. She is also the proud parent to one very fluffy, vocal cat.
